SKIN TIGHTENING

Skin tightening is one of the most popular procedures in the United States. Through the use of various creams and minimally-invasive procedures, we can help induce the body’s own mechanisms to tighten the skin. The methods range from the application of antioxidants on the skin to radiofrequency microneedling and lasers, such as the Spectra FX Laser. The effects usually do last a while, but requires maintenance over time as the skin continues to age gradually.

SCAR TREATMENT

Scars are not only cosmetically bothersome, but some may continuously grow and become itchy and red. Scar treatment is a complex art that may require a combination of topical creams, steroid injections, lasers, and minimally-invasive procedures such as microneedling and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections. We perform these procedures safely and with experience. We are proud to offer the newest in radiofrequency microneedling, which helps decrease scars, grow collagen, and tighten the overlying skin.

MELASMA, BLEMISHES, AND SUN SPOT TREATMENTS

There are various treatments for blemishes and sunspots. We offer in-office medical grade products and chemical peels that can help lighten brown discoloration. In addition, we have lasers that are safe to treat these conditions. As with most treatments, expect a series to see improvement. The type of treatment or treatments will depend on a variety of factors, including your native skin color, size, and depth of the lesion, as well as your general health.    I have been going to Metropolis Dermatology for about two years now, and it has been, and continues to be, a wonderful experience. The staff are always friendly, thorough, and welcoming. They make everything run so smoothly, and I appreciate how prompt they are in answering any questions I have.

But the star of the show is Dr. Shauna Higgins! I could spend all day writing about what an incredible physician she is. She is the kind of doctor people wish for. She’s incredibly caring, so attentive, and extremely knowledgeable. At every appointment with her, I walk out feeling seen and heard, and I always leave with a smile on my face.

   They have snacks, tea, coffee , and  water for you. The staff is very nice and pleasant.  One staff suggested a nice restaurant and bakery . Dr. Higgins  is excellent and has great communication skills. I asked  a few questions and she gladly answered. Some doctors are short and blunt and you don't feel comfortable asking questions.  I'm glad Metropolis is not that type of medical facility . The staff are courteous,  the place is clean and they have snacks!
